FLORA KLEIN ET TIPHANIE KIM MALL

Exhibition from October 13th to November 17th 2018
Opening Octobre 12th 2018

For this two-person exhibition the gallery’s flanking walls have been painted in a light gray and a warm ochre.
Tiphanie Kim Mall presents two video works on flat screen monitors. Her new work Alogo, 2018, follows the activities of her aunt’s riding club near Athens and takes its title from the greek word for horse, which stems from ‘álogos’, meaning unreasoning. Echo der Zeit, 2017, is a 40min film which documents the artist’s family in Basel, CH.
Three benches, each of varying but similar scale, have been designed and made by Flora Klein – who’s practice is grounded in abstract painting. Bench materials include steel, linoleum, imitation leather, as well as different types of wood including MDF sheets taken from Treize’s former office table, which has been transformed by Klein and will be in use again after the exhibition.
A text by Camilla Wills accompanied the exhibition, and is available to download here.

The exhibition has been supported by Pro Helvetia, Fondation suisse pour la culture.
